Hi Ben,

Thanks for the post back... There's some good tips there. Once I get my site up and running I'll be sure to link back to you here or if you get round to doing a whole post about the planning process that too :)

Thanks again

Hey Simon,

I was actually planning on doing a whole post about the process, but I havent had time. However, from one iPhone marketing Noob to another here are a few thoughts:

First, make a big list of all the sites you think you want to submit to. we broke them up into 'web forms' and 'email submissions'.

Some sites have a nice form you just fill it out and you are on your way. Other say 'send us an email and include x, y, and z'. Others just have a tips link and no instructions whatsoever.

So, once you have your list. Get your materials together. You have to have a website in order to publich your game on the store, so you should try your best to make that site look good and present your game in a good light. Also, it is probably a good idea to take all of your marketing materials and put them in one place, like our media-kit page.

Then, start at the top of your list, and go through each site one by one. Be sure to follow their instructions. If they say: provide some promo codes, then give them promo codes, if it says 'do not provide promo codes' then dont just give them code hoping that your generosity will get you a review. They all have submission guidelines for a reason, so follow them as closely as you can. A Warning: each and every site has different guidelines.

Last quick bit of advice: Dont be a dick. Dont pretend to be a big company if you are not. Dont expect you will get any press at all. If you do get some mentions, be nice and publish those links on your site (it is good for you and for them)

Cheers!

Hi Brent,

I'm currently working on my first app, I wonder if you could help me out. As my apps nears completion I realize that promoting it will play a key part in it's success. Could you give a NooB, any help in knowing where best to submit his app for review. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
